About the Competition

What makes an airport great? Some think it’s a wide range of dining and shopping choices, while others may prefer an attractive, comfortable ambience.

So how would you design your ideal airport? Enter the “Design Your Airport Competition” and show us!

The Airport Authority is now inviting Hong Kong residents and secondary students to share their ideas for Hong Kong International Airport’s passenger facilities, as well as contribute creative yet practical design concepts that could enhance the passenger experience at our airport of the future.

Competition Categories

There are two categories for the competition:

Comments from the Judges

“I am pretty amazed by the imagination and creativity of many of the submissions, making the judging a difficult yet enjoyable process. For instance, I am particularly impressed by one entry which designs a resting area for passengers in the shape of a huge origami airplane. A paper plane could strike a chord with the travellers as it’s a childhood memory for almost everyone.”
Vincent Ng

“I’m glad to see that the competition has attracted such a great variety of works, especially those done by students. From the dim-sum resting area to the designs based on many local festivals, the entries demonstrate the excellent creativity of the younger generation. This competition is a good platform for the public and young people to unleash their creativity.”
Joseph Choi

“The entries really impressed me with their creativity, exceptional innovation and aesthetics. Many of them showcases the unique Hong Kong culture which reflects the important role of Hong Kong International Airport as a gateway to the world.”
Prof Bernard Lim
